Onlays and Inserts
Inserts and onlays are mainly used for cases where there is a lot of damage to the tooth which can not be corrected by a simple filling, but tooth decay is not too extensive in order to require full coverage of the tooth with a cap. They are made of all-ceramic material (porcelain) or composite resin in the dental laboratory, and they are then glued to the patient’s mouth by the dentist. Also, they are often used to replace old metallic fillings, offering increased durability and better aesthetics.
